The AMAOE EMMC-3 BGA Reballing Stencil is an ultra-precision direct-heat solder planting template engineered for chip-level mobile phone technicians, forensic data recovery labs, and Android motherboard memory rework benches. Replacing older legacy layouts, the EMMC-3 consolidates multi-generation flash memory architectures into a single high-efficiency sheet, enabling technicians to reball and transplant eMMC, eMCP, UFS, uMCP, LPDDR, NAND, and PCIe storage ICs without purchasing multiple single-purpose plates.

Laser-machined from premium imported high-toughness Japanese stainless steel with a standard 0.15mm thickness, the EMMC-3 features proprietary square-to-round aperture profiling. This micro-aperture geometry prevents solder ball sticking, tin bridging, and deformation during direct hot air heating, ensuring uniform, spherical solder joints across fine-pitch BGA arrays every time.

Key Engineering Features & Bench Advantages:

  • All-in-One Multi-Generation Memory Support: Pre-configured with exact pitch footprints for BGA153, BGA162, BGA169, BGA221, BGA186, BGA254, BGA297, BGA178, BGA200, BGA110, BGA60, and BGA70 flash storage and RAM chips.
  • Laser-Etched Square-to-Round Micro-Holes: Advanced aperture finishing chamfers the hole interiors, allowing melted solder paste to form clean, symmetrical balls that release cleanly without tearing or sticking to the steel mesh.
  • Direct-Heat Thermal Resistance: Crafted from heat-resistant alloy steel that resists warping, thermal blistering, and "drumming" under high-temperature hot air gun heating (up to 350°C).
  • Calibrated 0.15mm Foil Thickness: Delivers the precise volumetric solder paste height required for standardized BGA solder ball dimensions, preventing cold joints from undersized balls or bridging from excess solder.
  • Multi-Protocol Architecture Coverage: Supports classic eMMC/eMCP standards alongside modern high-speed UFS 2.1, UFS 3.1, UFS 4.0, uMCP, and LPDDR RAM configurations found in flagship Android motherboards.
  • Corrosion & Chemical Resistant: Highly resistant to aggressive rework fluxes, rosin residues, and ultrasonic cleaning with 99% isopropyl alcohol (IPA).

Step-by-Step Bench Reballing Guide:

  1. IC Preparation: Desolder the memory IC, clean residual solder using desoldering wick and flux, and remove epoxy underfill using safe board solvent. Clean thoroughly with IPA.
  2. Stencil Alignment: Place the IC into a magnetic positioning base or silicone mat. Align the matching BGA footprint of the AMAOE EMMC-3 stencil over the chip pads under your microscope until all copper lands show cleanly through the apertures.
  3. Solder Paste Application: Spread medium-temperature (e.g., 183°C Sn63/Pb37) or low-temperature solder paste evenly across the holes using a flat scraper blade. Wipe away excess paste with a lint-free wipe so the top surface of the stencil is clean.
  4. Uniform Heating: Set your hot air rework station to low airflow and ~280°C–320°C. Hold the stencil down with ceramic tweezers and swirl hot air evenly until the paste melts into shiny, uniform solder balls in each hole.
  5. Separation & Final Reflow: Allow the assembly to cool for 5 seconds. Gently pop the stencil off the IC. Apply a drop of liquid flux and give a brief second pass with hot air to round out and align the solder spheres.
